TOPSoccer is
the outreach program for soccer designed to allow special
kids the opportunity to play ball with peers
and volunteer buddies. The program is inclusive
for kids age 3 and up for any child or young adult regardless
of disability. We play ball witha
fleet of wonderful volunteer "buddies" and
adapt soccer to the ability of the kids so that every
child is a winner with success measured
in smiles not goals. All play dates will be at beautiful
Jonesville Park on either Friday evenings or Sunday afternoons
and vary with the school vacation schedule, dates
are always on the website. We always cancel for
rain and occasionally add extra days for beautiful weather
so keep your eye on this website for updates. For
information about becoming a player or a "Buddy" see
below. Everyone is promised fun!
TOPSoccer players
must must register online and pay a fee of $15 per year.
To
register as a player click here
Scholarships
are available upon request. If you are having trouble
registering online as a player, come to the fields for
your first play date and forms will be available there
or email registrar@gainesvillesoccer.org and we will
assist you with the online registration process. All
players need to wear shin guards. T-shirts and water
bottles will be provided. Parents or other responsible
adults are required to stay at the fields with players
during play sessions. Any medical concerns that may
affect player safety must be disclosed via email to dots@gainesvillesoccer.org and
we will adjust play as needed to accommodate the issue.
TOPSoccer "Buddies" ie
volunteers must fill out the volunteer
form and
the photo
release form and bring original signed
forms and a non returnable photo with you on
the first day. No prior soccer experience
is necessary, but compassion and a spirit of fun
is expected.
If
you are using this site for a class requirement each
session is approximately 2 hours of volunteer credit.
Spring volunteers will NOT get enough hours for this
site to be exclusive so additional volunteer sites will
be needed to complete the 20 hour requirement. Visit http://endeavorrecreation.wetpaint.com or contact
shellyv@UFL.EDU for
more information about other adaptive recreation opportunities.
To get credit for hours, all students requiring
credit must keep their own log, as well as log in on
site, with each play date they attend. Please watch
the website for date changes or email dots@gainesvillesoccer.org to
receive the email updates.
